Summer Festival
Summer in Salzburg is all about enjoying both culture and nature. Let yourself be enchanted by the charm and special festival atmosphere on the Salzach river amidst the charming mountain backdrop and take a seat in the Großes Festspielhaus, Haus für Mozart, Felsenreitschule, Mozarteum and Domplatz. With operas, concerts and plays, the 2026 festival weeks once again offer a wide-ranging programme. Experience the wonderful Asmik Grigorian together with Jonathan Tetelman in a new production of Bizet’s ‘Carmen’, be moved by Benjamin Bernheim as Werther or listen to Elina Garanča as Ariadne – exactly 100 years ago, Strauss’ opera was performed as his first work in Salzburg.
Of course, ‘Jedermann’ with Philipp Hochmair is also a must-see in Salzburg, as are the top orchestras of the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic with their charismatic maestros. And if you want to extend your summer dream by a few sunny days, Salzburg and the dreamlike landscape of the Salzkammergut with its numerous lakes, warm hospitality and top-class cuisine are definitely worth a holiday.
Mozart Week
When winter transforms Salzburg into a particularly atmospheric setting, Mozart Week invites you to one of Europe’s most significant music festivals. Around the time of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s birthday, visitors can enjoy world-class concerts, opera performances, and chamber music featuring internationally renowned artists. Among the highlights is a new production of Mozart’s *Così fan tutte*. The festival, which has been directed by Rolando Villazón for many years, is complemented by first-class concerts, renowned orchestras, and international soloists, making Salzburg the musical center of the winter season. Mozart Week combines musical excellence with the special magic of Salzburg away from the tourist crowds—an ideal occasion for an inspiring cultural journey to the composer’s birthplace.
Salzburg Easter Festival
The Salzburg Easter Festival is one of Europe’s most exclusive music festivals, combining musical excellence with a unique atmosphere every year. It was founded in 1967 by Herbert von Karajan, who thereby enriched Salzburg with a festival of international stature. Following the return of the Berlin Philharmonic, this world-class orchestra, under the baton of Kirill Petrenko, is once again shaping the program for the second year in a row. The highlight of the festival is Wagner’s “Die Walküre” as part of the Ring Project, complemented by top-tier orchestral and choral concerts as well as exceptional soloists.
The combination of a festive Easter atmosphere, first-class music, and Salzburg’s very special charm has always made the Easter Festival an unforgettable experience—and a highlight of any cultural and musical journey. See for yourself and enjoy the Austrian hospitality that is still so alive here.
